Director, Health Services and Policy Expert
Dr. John Amuasi is a co-Director of Newshorn. He trained as a medical doctor at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Medical Sciences in Kumasi and practiced at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. John later graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, USA, with an MPH in Public Health Policy and Administration and an MS is Health Services Research. He completed a PhD in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration also at the University of Minnesota. In between his Masters and PhD studies, he served as head of the R&D Unit at the Komfo Anokye teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana for 3 years. Dr. Amuasi has been consulted by a number of international organizations on a wide range of issues related to health services, policy and systems in several African countries including South Africa, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, to name a few. In addition to consulting for a number of international organizations, John is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative research in Tropical Medicine on the KNUST campus. Dr. Amuasi is passionate about quality health service delivery and brings his rich experience to bear on the Newshorn brand of dental care. John loves soulful gospel music and enjoys playing his Ibanez BTB electric bass.
